What we do
Here is a flavour of what we at Community Energy Scotland do on a day-to-day basis. Please explore our website to find out much more about our work.
Advice and Support
We provide detailed, independent and ongoing support for all aspects of community energy project development, from micro to megawatt scale; we help broadcast the specific difficulties faced by the community sector; and by bringing communities and policy makers together, we try to find new ways forward.
Service Contracts
We deliver service contracts such as the Community and Renewable Energy Scheme Loan Fund (CARES) and the Big Lottery’s Growing Community Assets (GCA) fund. All have the same aims as Community Energy Scotland, which is to support communities in renewable energy projects. See here for more details of individual programmes.
Representing Communities
Community Energy Scotland represents our members and community organisations at policy level and helps keep community energy in the forefront of relevant organisations such as DECC, OFGEM, SSE and National Grid etc. We also promote community energy in new developments such as decentralised energy.
Networking Communities
Community Energy Scotland is a membership-based organisation. Members can share knowledge and connect to other Member groups who are developing, or who have already developed, community energy projects. Read more about how to join up and the benefits here.
