Monitoring & Evaluation
Monitoring renewable schemes is vital in assessing exactly how much energy and money the system is saving you. Additionally, you can pick up on faults with the renewable energy system which may not otherwise be apparent. Remote monitoring requires little ongoing involvement and can show you exactly how much energy your system is producing on a daily basis.
Community Energy Scotland can analyse and evaluate data from community projects to give existing communities valuable feedback, and provide a useful resource for new projects.
How to Monitor Your Project
You can either install a basic meter which will display the important figures, and can manually take readings on a regular basis, or you can install a remote system which will log readings regularly. Remote data logging equipment can be more costly, but will show a more accurate picture of performance.
Community Energy Scotland may be able to:
- Help in the initial setup of a monitoring system,
- Offer advice on the most appropriate equipment,
- Help with live energy displays for the community,
- Process and evaluate the data to let you know how well your renewable scheme is performing.
Community Energy Scotland is involved in monitoring schemes across Scotland, including biomass, wind, solar thermal, PV, heat pumps, hydro and exhaust air heat recovery systems.
