Microgeneration for Community Facilities
Community Energy Scotland has supported a number of projects linked to community owned facilities such as Village Halls and Sports Centres or other properties such as Social Housing.
Renewable microgeneration is not fit and forget technology and installing it in your community building needs to be accompanied behavioural change and an increased energy awarness amongst user groups to maximise the efficiency of your new technology.
A few top tips for your project
Insulate to accumulate
Reducing the buildings requirement for energy should be the first step. See our Energy and Carbon Reduction section
Do your research
There are a number of technologies available, which is suitable for your building will depend on your energy requirements, your patterns of energy usage, available resources, location and much more. One size does not fit all.

Monitor your installations performance
Monitoring the performance of your installation is important for trouble shooting and efficient use. Community Energy Scotland have a monitoring programme for microgeneration which aims to share learning and can advise on the monitroing of your installation.
Learn from others
There is a wealth of learning and experience to be accessed between communities who have installed microgen technologies in their buildings. Take a look at our project database to see what installations are in your area.
