Community Energy Innovation

Developing Local Energy Economies

Community energy projects are often at the cutting edge of innovation and technology.  Communities want to find new ways to maximise the benefits of renewable energy generation using emerging technologies and the clever local use of heat or power.

If you are interested in developing a project but cannot connect to the National Grid or want to find ways of using power locally (eg. in heating of transport), please get in touch!

Commercial Services

Through our trading subsidiary Community Energy Scotland Trading we provide commercial consultancy services and develop joint ventures with other charitable and private partners.

CES Trading has developed and currently operates a micro wind turbine portfolio in the Western Isles and, with a joint venture partner, a fully consented 9 MW wind farm in the Scottish Borders, which is moving to construction.

Community Support

Are you interested in developing a renewable energy project to benefit your community but don’t know where to start? Are you struggling to find the time to move a project forward? We offer a unified project management service to community groups in this position.

Community Energy International

We’re keen to work in partnership with anyone who is committed to community energy development... anywhere.  In our view it offers a powerful way to empower and build community capability and resilience to tackle fundamental issues of confidence, poverty, health, wellbeing and sustainable development.

We are enthusiastic in applying our knowledge gained first hand in Scotland to build capacity in other countries on community energy development. Click here.
