Becoming more energy efficient

Whether its energy saving light bulbs or loft insulation, we at Community Energy Scotland believe it is very important to look firstly at ways in which to reduce the energy consumption within your community facility.  Simple measures such as loft insulation can make fantastic savings for your group and should always be addressed prior to or at the same time as the installation of a renewable technology.

For this reason, grant funding for energy efficiency measures is available to community groups who wish to proceed with a renewable energy project under the CARES grant programme. This is usually in the form of insulation or similar measures.  Unfortunately double glazing cannot be funded due to a restriction on our funds.

There are many ways  in which you can conserve energy and make costs savings for your community group. Getting an insulation survey done can highlight areas where you can top up your insulation which will avoid unecessary heat loss.

Draught proofing is another inexpensive and yet very effective method of conserving energy. Draught proofing can also be fitted to windows and external doors, letter boxes, access hatches and loft hatches.

For more details on the above and other energy efficiency measures contact your local Community Energy Scotland Development Officer.
