Moray Boilers Unveiling Plans Latest News!
Was it the catchy headline that attracted to read this blog? While you’re thinking, it might be worth considering everything that is important to your local community. Is it the way it looks? Or maybe the jobs within it, the contribution it makes to Scotland or the quality of the food it produces? Is it local facilities, or community life? All these issues are important, and are close to the surface in Moray at the moment.
Moray is home to the finest mainland whiskies, excellent local food producers and a tradition of hosting the Royal Air Force bases which have served the UK well for decades.

Whilst the debate over the future of Moray’s airbases has been going on, Lossiemouth Town Hall has been getting new wood pellet boilers fitted. The Town Hall is an impressive Victorian building. It was saved from closure by local volunteers when the local authority was forced to mothball it due to running costs and regulations about access. Undaunted, the local management committee took it on, upgraded it and built a new extension providing the facilities for all abilities the original hall lacked. Only the absence of any kind of effective heating system remained to be tackled.
The Scottish Government’s CARES grant scheme run by Community Energy Scotland (which ended in March) was able to match local effort by the Committee members and Moray LEADER funding to fit an effective and sustainable wood pellet system to the hall. Pellets come from the nearby Puffin Pellets plant at Banff. The installation work, by Inverness installers Fraser and Sun, is now complete and the Committee has arranged an unveiling ceremony to celebrate the fact that they will have a fully functioning community venue.
The Hall Committee has arranged for Moray Concert Brass to play for the boiler unveiling event which is scheduled for Wednesday 1st June. The brass band involves youth players from across Moray.
Any fly-past by Tornado jets will be purely coincidental.
