There was no shortage of enthusiasm for a simple insulation project BLOG steinerpupilinsulation2from our young helpers at Moray Steiner School in Forres last week. When Community Energy Scotland stepped–in to help the school with a CARES grant to insulate the extensive loft area, we thought it would be nice to get a few photographs of the pupils watching as the contractors arrived with the rolls of material and unloaded their truck.

The pupils had other ideas! There was clearly a job to be done. The rolls needed carried up to the first floor classrooms, ready to go into the loft – and the youngsters weren’t just going to watch – even if most of them were smaller than the rolls of insulation.

So we can count the cost of the job – about £2,500 – and the energy benefits, the carbon emissions reduced for decades to come and the employment for the local Moray contractor and his staff. For me, the best thing to count would be the smiles on the faces of the children, the installers and everyone now looking at the happy photographs of the occasion!
