Chair, Moffat CAN

Alis became a green campaigner at the age of 15.  She is founder and chair of Moffat CAN (Carbon-Neutral), a community-owned charity employing 20 staff in recycling, a community market garden and Scotland's fist aquaponics greenhouse, combining hydroponics with aquaculture.  Moffat CAN is based in an old church which the group has restored as a carbon-neutral building, a roof with 54 solar panels, providing FiT income and producing their own energy, as well as a ground source heat pump and solar thermal panels.  The power of communities to act together to tackle environmental and social problems is something Alis feels strongly about.
